Did you know that we in the Student Senate are entrusted with a large sum of money that’s given to us by the administration for student spending? By filing out a form and making a proposal to the USS, you as a student can use this money for whatever idea you can propose. It’s easy to forget about the power we have as students here at New School. As a USS member I want to make more students aware of these opportunities and get these dollars to good use on your ideas.
I first became interested in the affairs of New School while I was writing for the New School Free Press. I was assigned to cover a USS meeting and got to meet and interview a few of our representatives. I realized that most students don’t think about the Student Senate at all and never consider harnessing it’s power. As a USS member I’m going to establish better communication with you, the student body, and make sure you know about what we’re doing and how you can get your interests served.
My history with the Administration is a bit rough so I thought I’d come right out about it. If you’d like to learn the details of the incident here’s a page that explains it.
With that in mind, as a member of the University Student Senate I’m not representing the administration, I’m representing the students and student interests.
