Lang::Michael Kaplan

Michael Kaplan
This is my first year at Lang, however, I am already realizing a major problem: there is so little community involvement! I would like to get involved with university activities and help facilitate the progressive, educated, and exciting environment that the New School is known for. As a member of the USS, I would like to develop new ways to garner and support student involvement in university life.
I have experience in organizing and leadership, as well as working within consensus-based structures. I have been involved in political causes and community service since 7th grade. Throughout my high school years, much of my time was spent organizing volunteer-projects as well as working with political organizations. Last year, I dedicated a gap-year to traveling to the Middle East in order to volunteer, learn about the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict, and teach English in a Palestinian refugee camp. I have always been dedicated and passionate about all of my endeavors.
I believe that I would be a positive asset to the LSU and USS. I am a very dedicated student; organized, balanced, motivated, and ready to help make this world, as well as this school, a better place.
