1. You can get into the Museum of Modern Art free with your New School ID card.
2. There’s free counseling at the Counseling Service in Loeb Hall.
3. You can get Free DVD Movie Rentals at 55 W 13th St.
4. The university has an Ombudsperson (to hear your complaints about the administration); and a Writing Center in case you are having writers’ block!
5. Get Advice About Sex from the sex educator!
6. NSSR and NSGS graduate Students can take Foreign Language Courses for free. (NSGS students see Chrissy Roden, 66W12 #307; NSSR students see Academic Affairs, 6E16 #1007D.) All other grad students can take them for a reduced rate of $136 — just register as “audit”.
7. The New School has basketball, volleyball, soccer, meditation, salsa, yoga, tai chi and karate.
8. If you want to start a new organization or club, OSDA will give you start-up funds.
9. There are groups for Buddhists, Jews, LGBT, Philosophers, Photographers, Stand-Up Comics, and fans of Wes Anderson.
10. Latin America Forum throws has a spanish-speaking cocktail party almost every week!
11. New School students can go to Columbia’s mega Lesbigay First Friday Dance, on the first Friday of every month, but you have to request tickets in advance.
12. You can email David Van Zant through New School email, and schedule a meeting with him!
13. The stairs next to the elevators at 6 E 16 are open to go down and exit the building. They’re not actually alarmed — the sign is just a deterrent. Shhh!
14. Students can rent digital cameras, camcorders, and audio equipment free of charge at the university’s Equipment Center.
