About Tushar
Tushar Gogia comes to the New School with a strong background in leadership and personal development. He has attended Institutions of Higher Learning in the US, UAE and India and has always been an active participant of Student Governance.
Tushar was the first democratically elected President of student council at the American College of Dubai (AUC). At the AUC he ran a fundraising campaign, which raised over US $15000 in corporate sponsorships that provided the funds for the first AUC’s student council budget. Tushar transferred to SUNY Plattsburgh where he earned his BA in Environmental Sciences. At Plattsburgh State he served consecutive terms as Senator and Vice President for Organizations at the Student Association. Tushar created and implemented an annual Leadership Development Initiative for student-run clubs and organizations. The plan included team-building retreats for student leaders, student facilitated workshops, as well as an annual performance based review process. Tushar also worked in the Dean of Students office as the Campus Multicultural Events Coordinator. In 2004, the Alumni Office at SUNY Plattsburgh presented Tushar with the Outstanding Student Service Award.
Tushar’s professional experience is a mix of international work in the public, private and nonprofit sector. Roles from his past lives include researching impacts of land reclamation on Hong Kong’s Pink Dolphins, to coordinating organizational training retreats (Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank, Global Fund for Children, etc), and working at outdoor learning centers in Maine and California. Prior to starting his degree at Milano he worked with Magic Bus India – a Bombay-based nonprofit that conducts leadership development programs for street and slum children. Tushar was instrumental in establishing the highly profitable Magic Bus Enterprise, a social enterprise subsidiary for Magic Bus.
Interesting Fact About Tushar
In addition to hiking, backpacking, and photography (he believes Catalina Island off California is a great place to do all these), Tushar also enjoys all things fall (especially pumpkin pie!). Organic dark chocolate with mint or almonds is his weakness!
