I am currently on the Board of Directors as the Vice President for the New York City Chapter of American Women in Radio in Television (now renamed Alliance for Women in Media) I have been an active member since June 2006 working my way up from membership committee chair to VP. I passionately serve the chapter by aiding women in media find their place in this fickle industry and creating programming that benefits their growth and introduces them to the everchanging New York media scene.
About Me
I love to express myself through my unique voice. Within everyone there is a powerful voice and it can be used to influence the world. That is my purpose in life—to be heard. As a current local radio personality, I am better known as “The Beautiful Stranger” out on Long Island, NY at 106.1 WBLI-FM-#1 Hit Music Station. My catch phrase on the radio is “Your Day is Officially Beautiful w/ me …The Beautiful Stranger”. I have learned that the best way to to convey a message is to speak loudly then listen soundly. Because I have a natural gift of engaging others, I feel lucky to become a new member of the USS this year because it is a new way to speak to students while listening to their voices, ultimately exchanging ideas for the betterment of the University and for our future leaders.
I am excited to be part of the movement to improve the existing student programs at New School University as well as working with a creative group of New School leaders who want to provide the change The New School so desperately needs. The diversity of this year’s USS is going to yield some pretty interesting ideas that is sure to benefit our campus. Representing the student body not only as a member of USS, but as a new Orientation leader and graduate/teaching assistant, my goal is to build communication between the student body, faculty, and administration in order to have this University function as others within the New York Metro area do–similar to a family unit. Improvements need to actively be made in the use of university resources and a bevy of other issues must be addressed immediately. This year USS must be about action.
Listen folks! I am an extremely approachable individual who is never afraid to speak her mind. I’d be more than happy to hear more any general questions, concerns, and thoughts regarding the USS or the New School, or you can hit me up to just “kick it.”
