Jazz Council
EDSAC (Executive Director’s Student Advisory Council)
EDSAC is a student organization that provides a forum for the voice of the student body to be heard. EDSAC keeps the administration informed about student issues/concerns, advises on important policy/procedure changes, and explores innovative ways to collaborate with the broader New School community. Volunteer participants represent a variety of degree programs, instrumental concentrations and student levels (Sr., Jr., etc.).
Current membership includes: Ryan Blum, Sarah Charles, Ben Fox,
Jeremy Hodge, Steve Lugerner, Kingsley McCandless, Anthony Taddeo, and Alex Yellen.
In 2007, EDSAC was successful in adding student-led groups to the programming at Sweet Rhythm. Last year they cooperated with facilities to regulate room temperature and pilot extended practice room hours during peak times during the semester. On the agenda for this year: identifying new student recruiting strategies, exploring the role of contemporary music at New School Jazz and expanding our participation in University-wide initiatives such as the New School Radio Station and University Student Senate. Martin Mueller (Executive Director) and Brenda Barlow (Assistant Director of Academic Affairs) founded and co-advise EDSAC.
For more information, please contact Brenda Barlow, Assistant Director of Academic Affairs at Jazz, or Ben Fox, USS Senator of Jazz.
